Update on XR-29 Standards for Critical Access Hospitals

We are hearing from a number of our clients—particularly Critical Access Hospitals—that they believe the upcoming NEMA Standard XR-29 deadline of January 2016 (when Medicare penalties for CT scans that don’t meet the XR-29 standards kick in) does not apply to them.

Unfortunately, based on current information, there is no indication that this is correct. We’re all waiting for additional clarification, but postponing the decision to upgrade for too long could place your hospital or your free-standing imaging clinic in jeopardy of getting hit with the Medicare penalties.
